This policy is designed to comply with Kansas law prohibiting district employees from privately or directly communicating with students through social media platforms for non-official purposes. This policy establishes professional boundaries, protects student safety and privacy, and ensures that social media use supports only public, one-way official school communications.
Student Personal Electronic Communication Devices Policy (KSBRC)
This policy is designed to comply with Kansas law prohibiting student use of or accessing personal electronic communication devices during the school day on school premises except for district virtual schools and exceptions permitted in this policy and/or by state law.

This document provides guidance for districts adoping policies to comply with Senate Substitute for Substitute for HOUSE BILL No. 2299: hb2299_enrolled.pdf wherein each Board of Education must adopt policies to comply with the new Kansas law prohibiting student access to personal electronic communication devices during the school day on school premises and restricted social media use by employees. Policies must be in place by September 1, 2026. Boards must also certify compliance to the Kansas State Board of Education by that date, with a recommended effective date of the 2026–2027 school year.
