EVENT DESCRIPTION

Join us for an empowering and educational event focused on the pivotal role school board members play in improving student achievement and outcomes. “Improving Student Achievement by Changing Adult Behaviors” is designed to equip Kansas school board members, educators, and community leaders with the knowledge and tools to positively influence student success through their behaviors and actions.

 

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

  • Author of Great on Their Behalf, AJ Crabill, will discuss why most school boards fail at improving student outcomes and introduce ideas from his new book and how to overcome those obstacles.

Breakout Sessions:

  • Lessons Learned: Empowering School Board Members to Improve Student Out-comes
    • Practical Lessons In Making A Difference As A School Board Member
    • Bond Election: Student Outcomes and Community Focused Strategic Master Planning Process
  • Cory Brewer will explore three crucial aspects of educational success: engaging families and the community, addressing student behavior effectively, and empowering school boards to shape educational outcomes. This keynote will also be followed by small group discussions to apply Ms. Brewer’s concepts to board work.
  • A peer-to-peer discussion on best practices for school boards, sharing success stories and solutions.
  • Receive a 2024 legislative update to understand how to translate policy into effective practice.
