Lyndon School Board votes to terminate superintendent following his arrest for child endangerment

The Lyndon USD 421 Board of Education has approved the termination of Superintendent Bradley Marcotte following his suspension after his October arrest for child endangerment and obstruction.

The Osage County school district provided The Sentinel with its resolution to terminate Marcotte and detailed his actions that led to the decision:

On or about October 18, 2024, Mr. Marcotte drove a school bus with students on it

after consuming alcohol that he was in possession of on school property in violation

of USD 421 Board Policy GAOA-R. Based on these actions, he was arrested for child

endangerment and interference with a law enforcement officer. These actions are a

violation of Section 8 of Lyndon U.S.D. #421 Superintendent Contract dated October

31, 2023, by engaging in acts “which materially affects his ability or effectiveness to

discharge his duties as Superintendent including but not limited to ..(c)

intemperance,.. (f) neglect of duty, (g) general neglect of the business of the

district, (h) unprofessional conduct….”

         Section 1. That it is hereby declared to be the intent of the Board of Education of Unified School District No. 421, Osage County, Kansas, to terminate the employment contract of Bradley Marcotte.

        Section 2. That the clerk of the board of education is hereby authorized and directed to give written notice promptly to Bradley Marcotte of the board’s intent to terminate his contract.

The Board appointed Paul Dorathy as interim superintendent. Dorathy announced there would be no further comment on the termination of Marcotte.
